Maternity Photos | Manhattan, Kansas | Newborn Photographer

This maternity session was one of my favorite maternity sessions to date! We actually arrived at Kansas State University just in time for the storm to roll in that was supposed to arrive two hours later according to the weather site I looked up.  Luckily, there was no lightning going on yet, just some scary gray clouds that were sneaking up on us.  Rather than worrying about it, we opted to do as much as we could as quickly as we could in case we needed to make a run for it!  The resulting images were Stunning however and the overcast glow on their skin just made this adorable couple even more gorgeous.  I just KNOW their little girl is going to be beautiful! I was also happy that we were able to get the session done during that first spring bloom when this particular tree was covered in white blossoms.  Since the couple is a set of KState Alums we had to get some fun images of them in their Wildcat gear as well!

Winter Maternity Photos | Manhattan, Kansas | Newborn Photographer | Stacey Zoll Photography

I will admit right off the bat.. I do not like winter! However..snow is pretty!  I would just rather not have to go in it...UNLESS.. I get to take pretty pictures in it, and then run back inside and hide until it melts!  With that little disclaimer, I can get back on track here...

We arrived on location to take maternity photos as fast as we possibly could before Mom, Dad, and possibly even baby turned into a lovely ice sculpture for park visitors to enjoy.  Lucky for us, it was a whopping 24 degrees that day, not counting the wind chill, and yes.. I just said "lucky for us."  The following day it was 4 degrees, so apparently we ended up with the warmest day of the week!!  Mom & Dad did amazing, however, and we were able to snap some beautiful images and race back to the car within 15 minutes. Thank God!

I am now excitedly awaiting the arrival of their little girl in the next few weeks so I can capture her newborn photos!

It's a Minnie Mouse Birthday! One Year / Cake Smash Session | Manhattan, Kansas | Professional Photographer | Stacey Zoll Photography

Woo! I'm a bit behind on my blogging.. but better late than never, right?!? Gotta love holiday season! Here's some photos from a fun one year birthday / cake smash session in my studio that I did with a Minnie Mouse fan! Her whole session was SO adorable, from her yellow Minnie Mouse socks, to the cake, to her custom Minnie dress! Good luck not smiling a little bit at this one!

Cake Smash! Miss A's One Year Birthday! | Manhattan, Kansas | Professional Photographer | Stacey Zoll Photography

Miss A recently celebrated her first birthday with a once-in-a-lifetime cake smash session!  Her Mom went with a "wild thang" theme and dressed her in an animal print onesie with coordinating hair bow and tutu! A little bit of pink was added to the backdrop for some girly color.  She really enjoyed her cake making it extremely hard to narrow down which images to include in this blog! I will contain myself, however, and manage to choose just a few.. however difficult it may be!

Newborn Girl , Miss A, 8 days New | Manhattan , Kansas | Newborn Photographer | Fort Riley | Junction City | Wamego

Miss A decided to make her appearance one month early so she was photographed at eight days old.  Her Mom was excited to have her photographed with pink but we also used an antique pram for some variety.  She was a sweet 5 lbs when I saw her and I enjoyed working with her and her parents! I was lucky enough to do their maternity pictures as well; it is always exciting to be a part of such a beautiful journey!

Newborn Baby R - 14 days New - Manhattan , Kansas | Newborn Photographer | Fort Riley | Junction City | Wamego

This precious little girl came to me a little later than the preferred newborn window but thankfully she was still pretty tiny and slept great! At two weeks many babies would rather look at me and put their limbs where THEY want instead of where I would prefer =) . Baby R, however, did fantastic and allowed me to capture some great images!  Her Mom is currently working on her PhD at Kansas State University in a type of animal science.  Mom also shows horses and has 5 horses of her own currently so she brought her show saddle along for some unique photos!  I incorporated some purple & white as well to go with the KSU theme.  Lastly, since her Mom is a graduate of Clemson University, as well as her dearly loved grandfather, I snapped a photo utilizing the Clemson class ring as well because that is special to her and her family, and helps show how tiny her cute little feet are.  =)

Sunset Maternity | Manhattan , Kansas | Maternity & Newborn Photographer | Stacey Zoll Photography

I was super excited to photograph this couple as they are expecting their baby girl in September! I think part of my excitement is knowing that I will get to do her newborn photos too, but the maternity photos got my full attention anyways and we had a great night!  This is the first time I had to ask a client to "push out" her belly in a couple of the pictures! Mommy is 32 weeks and still looks awesome and moves pretty well.. though she feels a little cramped of course.. enjoy!

Newborn Girl : 6 days New | Manhattan, KS Photographer

This sweet little girl did wonderful during her full newborn session.  She was sound asleep when they arrived so we got started right away and took some photos of her in her "homecoming" outfit before she got woken up to get undressed.  After a short feeding, we continued on with the session and achieved some wonderful memories for her new family!

Let's Have Some Cake! Cake Smash Photography | Manhattan, KS Photographer

I. LOVE. CAKE. SMASH! I realized I have yet to share some Cake Smash photos and thought I would remedy that.  Cake Smash is, after all, one of my favorite sessions to do.  Something about watching a child timidly eat a cake while giving Mom the "Are you sure this is ok?" look just never gets old! I love the bright colors, the fun, and the candid-ness (that probably isn't a word..) of these sessions.  Children do the darndest things when we get to just let them do their thing!   I have done a cake smash with a 2 year old as well and learned that the first year truly is the best time since the idea of eating on their own, and CAKE for that matter, is such a unique experience to them.  After all, you spent the first year just teaching them how to eat off of a spoon, sit up, stand, maybe walk... and this just shows just how much they grow in that first 365 days.  And to top it off.. you have awesome photos to remember the occasion and show your child's future girlfriends/boyfriends. ;)  Feel free to bring a spare piece for the photographer.. I often drool my way through these sessions, particularly during the editing process! LOL

Cake Smash sessions can be done indoors in my studio or outdoors.

The picture below is an oldie but a goodie! This was one of the first Cake Smash sessions I ever did so while it would be a little below my standards of today, I still love it!
