Baby M was 5 days old when we did his newborn session, however he was already weighing in at over 8 lbs!  I suppose I should not have been surprised since he ended up being named after the strongest man in the world!  It started out as a joke when his Mom first found out about the pregnancy, but ended up sticking by the time he was born.  It is a great little story on how he received his name!  Baby M slept most of the time allowing us to get some great shots before he wasn't interested anymore.  =) His Dad is in the military and deploying this summer so we made sure to incorporate some of his gear into the session as well.

Wesley & Marisol: Junction City, Kansas Wedding | Manhattan, Kansas Wedding Photographer

I recently had the pleasure of photographing the wedding of a dear, valued client of mine and her new husband.  They were married at a beautiful Catholic church, with the reception to follow at the Junction City, Kansas Opera House.  The couple has a total of 9 children between them which made for some wonderful family AND wedding party shots, since the wedding party consisted of all 9 of them! It was a lot of fun and I am so happy that I was able to share in this occasion with them, particularly since I have come to know them over the past couple of years.  Wishing them a lifetime of happiness and many blessings together!

This fun photo was a special request of the Bride.. we were still working out the logistics to get all 10 of them to show up in the back, but the facial expressions were too good to pass up!

You're Still the One - Wedding / Vow Renewal | Manhattan , Kansas | Junction City | Fort Riley | Wedding Photographer

I was honored to photograph the vow renewal of this wonderful military couple that has been married for 12 years.  When they were originally married they had a very small ceremony, so this time they decided to put on the wedding they never had, including a church ceremony followed by a reception. It was beautiful.  The ceremony took place in Junction City at a local church, followed by the reception at the Fort Riley Convention Center.  The reception was complete with DJ, Photo Booth, Candy Bar, and Cake of course!

The cake was surrounded by 3 smaller cakes, each topped with a photo of one of their children.  The church ceremony also included vows as a family, and the mixing of sands for each member of the family.  All in all, it was an unforgettable, touching even that was a joy to be a part of.

Ready, Set, Wedding! | Manhattan , Kansas | Kansas City | Topeka | Engagement & Wedding Photographer

A few weeks back, I was lucky enough to photograph a fun wedding with a friend of mine in Abilene, Kansas.  This wedding was traditional, yet unique, and certainly a great time!  The color of the wedding was my favorite green and was incorporated in fun ways, including the groomsmans shirts, the usher's belts, the cake, and even the lights in the reception!  The couple was married at a local hotel, but we also traveled to a nearby field to get some one-of-a-kind bridal portraits.  The bride was hesitant, but trecked her way into the wheat (risking bugs and all!) so that we could get gorgeous images, such as the one seen below.  The ceremony was simple and sweet, the reception included finger foods and country line dancing, and the guests left happy with their lime green drink "koozies" personalized with the couples name and date. Congrats again to this beautiful couple - and may you have many blessings to come in your lifetime together!

Custom Senior Photography | Manhattan , Kansas | Fort Riley | Junction City | Wamego | Flint Hills

Senior photography has really become an art in today's society.  It gives the senior and the photographer an outlet to be creative, have fun, and make some beautiful, one-of-a-kind images to remember this awesome time in their life.  It is an opportunity to recognize their individualism as they begin the next stage.



The Seniors included in this blog were quite opposite in personality, but equally fun to work with.  Their sessions took place at a few different locations in Manhattan, KS, and though they were done four months apart, the temperature was literally freezing during both sessions!  We actually got snowed on during the month of April!!  All in all, however, we achieved some great images, and I know their parents are so proud!

Part of what I love about senior photography is the opportunity to not only work with a young adult that is looking forward to the experience, but getting to utilize some different and unique settings for the shoot.  I love the opportunity to also edit the images creatively to make stand-out, unforgettable images, preferably images that say something about who that senior is and/or what their interests are.








In addition to remembering where they've been, I love to reference where they are going.  Senior photography can be a tribute to the past and a hope for the future, which is what makes it so special.

I have had a few people ask me recently why I enjoy doing Boudoir photography,.. doesn't it make me uncomfortable?  The truth is.. absolutely not!  I truly LOVE shooting Boudoir sessions, and I look forward to more and more opportunities to do so here in the Manhattan, KS area or wherever I may travel to.  I did my own Boudoir session years ago for my third wedding anniversary as a gift to my husband.  It was his favorite gift ever, and the bonus was that it was one of the best and most fun experiences I ever had myself!  I love that I am able to create that for other women.  There is no greater feeling than having someone say to you, "Thank you so much, I look and feel so beautiful!  My husband couldn't believe it, and I feel like a supermodel!"  Combine that with helping a woman to invest in her marriage by creating such a thoughtful gift for her spouse, while renewing or enhancing their love and attraction for one another, and there is simply no down side to Boudoir!  Boudoir is a wonderful, unique gift that not every man gets to receive, but I bet every man would love!  So whether you are a newlywed looking for the perfect wedding gift for your new husband, or a woman that has been married for decades that just wants to renew the spark and remind her husband that she is still his, still finds him desirable, and wants to be desired herself.. A Time to Cherish - Newborn Photography | Manhattan , Kansas | Fort Riley | Junction City | Wamego |

Life is full of milestones, particularly the first year when every day, week, and month comes with a new experience.  The first week of life is particularly beautiful as your baby begins learning how to live outside the womb, but still maintains a sense of peace as they sleep soundly (during the day at least!), and find their comfort nestled in the arms of a loving parent.  Newborn photography can definitely be a challenge as we move quickly, but not too quickly!, to get those precious images before baby is hungry, cranky, or just has to go potty!  But the end product is worth the effort!  These moments pass by so quickly, it seems like just the blink of an eye before they are gone.. images as you will see below, are best obtained in the first 7 days of a child's life.

Newborn photography is about capturing those once-in-a-lifetime photos that can only be obtained in the first few days of life.  It allows a parent to remember just how tiny those little fingers were when grasping onto yours, or how their tiny feet fit snugly in the palm of your hand.  

Photographing newborns requires great patience, skill, and attention to detail.  The editing that is done afterward to help get rid of the exema, dryness, yellow/red colored skin, etc. that many newborns have soon after birth is another act of love in itself.  It is a very detailed, time-consuming process to give newborns their beautiful, creamy skin, but making sure to maintain their adorable features and not leave them looking "over-processed".  I take great care in positioning and posing so that you and baby both feel comfortable, and your child is never in any danger.  As a mother, I completely understand how nerve wracking it can be to take your tiny little bundle out of the house within those first few days.  If you prefer, I even offer a "Family Experience" session for an extra fee, in which I will come to your home and take photos of your new baby and your family in your own environment.  Nothing makes me happier than providing you with photographs that you will forever cherish.. images to display proudly in your home so you can "remember when," as they continue to grow up too fast. .
