A Fun, Outdoor Wedding in Alma, Kansas | Topeka, Kansas Photographer Stacey Zoll Photography

Happy Spring! A couple of weekends ago I was happy to photograph a wedding for a lovely couple on their gorgeous property in Alma, Kansas.  This Kansas State University wedding was setup outdoors with some hay bale seating for ceremony guests, a large tent for the reception, and, of course, touches of purple & white throughout as the decor.

The happy couple share a home with their three dogs that were entertaining in their own ways throughout the day!  It is so funny how the personality of an animal can come through in such a short time - there was the wild girl who just wanted to be outside in the creek running through the property chasing bugs (who luckily did NOT get muddy paws on the Bride's dress, though the same couldn't be said for the living room! LOL), the guard dog who could have used a Xanax that day since the guests did not clear their arrival with her beforehand, and then the little shy gal that just quietly looked around and hoped people didn't show her too much attention.  So anyway, enough about dogs I suppose...

The day was full of laughter, some chaos, and a large group of family and friends enjoying each other's company and ready to celebrate the couple.  The quick ceremony was followed by dinner (catering and bartending provided by Friendship House) a few speeches, the cutting of the cake, the couple's first dance, parent dances, and then the guests enjoyed the outdoors including a bonfire, and games of horseshoes and cornhole.  The Bride's sister was unable to attend the wedding due to being deployed.  I know she was missed (as shown in the photo below!), and thank you to her sister (also named Stacey!) for her service.  The day was a definite success, and it was a fun time!

The couple and I snuck away during the reception to take some photos on their awesome property that includes multiple acres of trees, grasses, a large creek, firepit, etc!  If I was a dog (or a human!), I would be happy to live there too!

Topeka Wedding at Great Overland Station | Professional Photographer Stacey Zoll Photography

Why hello! This wedding and reception both took place at the historic Great Overland Station in Topeka, Kansas this past February.  It made for a large area that was accommodating to all of the guests and has a pretty balcony area overlooking the main area for extended seating & viewing.  You can visit the venue's website for more information regarding the historical significance of the station.  As is often the case when I am the photographer, we lucked out with some pretty awesome weather for a winter wedding! (Awesome according to my opinion that is, which means it wasn't freezing and the sun was out!! YAY!!).

This Adorable couple is so sweet and kind and were such a pleasure to work with.  Their wedding colors were a blush pink and dark blue, and their decor and fresh flowers were fun and beautiful and represented the couple well.   The welcome table had many cute details but my favorite was their "Shake it like a Polaroid picture" song reference as their greeters snapped a photo of the guests as they arrived for their guest book.  What a fun new trend to remember guests and make it personal!

The couple chose to do a First Look prior to the ceremony so we could complete most of the family formals beforehand and they could go right into the reception afterward.  The ceremony was short and sweet and consisted of hand-written vows by the Bride & Groom.  A friend of theirs was ordained for the event in order to be the one to announce them "Mr. & Mrs." 

The reception, with DJ services provided by Marcus of Affordable Pro DJ Service, was full of fun, laughter, and happily ever after as the guests drank, laughed, and danced the night away.  

This was an all-around great day and it was such a pleasure sharing in their celebration.  Thanks so much to the happy couple for having me as your photographer.  I wish a lifetime of happiness, encouragement, and God's blessings. Topeka Engagement at Gage Park | M + B | Professional Photographer Stacey Zoll Photography

Welcome back photo viewers! Today I have the pleasure of sharing a preview of Molly & Brent's recent engagement session.  I would love to share the whole thing with you (especially a couple of hilarious outtakes), but alas, I must narrow them down, so here are my top images that I just couldn't resist!

You may notice that I said "recent", yet the sun is shining!  We were lucky enough to have what some may refer to as "decent" winter weather.  I, of course, scoff at this sentiment because my fingers were still purple by the end of the session, as Brent so nicely pointed out to me, haha.  The good news is, that after some intense heavy breathing on my hands, and holding them over the car vent while driving home afterward (don't worry, I only put one to the vent at a time), my fingers thawed out, regained their regular color, and my phalanges and I will live to photograph another day!  Hooray!  However, I will concede and say that it was much warmer than it could have been for being done in January, so thank you Lord for that... but I still won't say it was good weather!

So after the weather report, lets move on to the couple! They are getting married this Spring and were a ton of fun to work with.  How Molly managed to wear a dress for this I will never know, she is clearly better at this "winter" thing than I.. and she looked beautiful doing it!  Brent is a crackup and I so look forward to working with the two of them on their wedding day.  I was lucky enough to meet the other members of the family as well that I have been told about from the beginning.  Their beautiful four-legged babies are full of energy, personality, and were fun to incorporate into some of the shots.  Working with all of them was a real pleasure and I sure hope they love their "winter" images as much as I do!

Happy New Year 2017! Topeka & Manhattan Kansas Photographer | Stacey Zoll Photography

Hello & Happy New Year to You and Yours! Due to limited time on my hands, I am a bit behind on my blogging (to be remedied this winter hopefully before lovely-wonderful-HEAT appears again).  So I apologize for my recent silence on the blog, but here I am!  I am happy to reflect on the memories made in the past year with joy and gratefulness for the work that I had, the people I met, and those I was able to share life with.  Hopefully I will cross paths with some of you in the next 12 months!

Personally, I don't have any crazy resolutions for this year; how about you?  What are your hopes, dreams, and goals for 2017?  I do plan to work on some personal strengthening and enjoy my family and friends.  One of my dogs has been working on some strengthening also.  He likes to lay next to me on the ground while I work on some back exercises, with all four legs in the air in hopes I will scratch his belly while I'm at it.  When I fail to do so in a timely manner, he merely moves towards me until his belly rests on my arm and he gets a belly rub from close proximity.  He really knows how to set goals and be persistent! Perhaps we can learn from him!

Anyhow!  This year began with a move for me from Manhattan, Kansas to Topeka, Kansas.  So naturally, my life was chaos for a few months!  I am missing Manhattan quite a bit and still love it, but I am getting settled and learning my way around and business stayed pretty study, so I am definitely blessed!  I still take sessions and weddings in Manhattan as well as visit dear friends, so I plan to maintain that for 2017.  It has been fun getting to explore new places and meet new people in Topeka as well.

All in all, it has been a busy, kinda crazy year for SZP, and not just because of photography as previously mentioned. But as usual, I have met many wonderful new people and witnessed many couples say their vows.  It was such a pleasure working with all of you and I certainly hope to hear from you again.

One of my favorite things from 2016 was photographing various school programs for the new web design of the Manhattan Tech (MATC) website, which was a ton of fun and a little different than I normally get to do.  I really love doing commercial/corporate work to include products, headshots, and real estate - commercial or private property.

One of my favorite things is still photographing female glamour/boudoir and making a woman feel as gorgeous as she should!  If you haven't looked into it for you or your spouse yet, then you are missing out!  It is such a fun experience!

This year, I look forward to expanding my high school senior portraits, so I hope to hear from those of you graduating in 2018 in the months ahead!  I will share a few from some of this years Class of 2017 below.

Whether it is portrait event, commercial, or real estate, I'd love to hear from you this year, and wish you all many wonderful blessings in the year ahead!  And try to stay warm.. as I cannot! =)
